Welcome to brEAThe kitchen. My name is Daphna Kedem, and I am unabashedly vegan - for the animals, for the planet, for health, for everything bigger than myself and throughout the universe. That may seem like a powerful statement but, then again, so is living vegan. It is the strongest and most compassionate life choice that you can make.

So, let's take a breath, and I will explain brEAThe Kitchen.

It Began with a Quiche

When I look back on it, it really started with a mushroom and onion quiche that I created and shared with my friends and family. Their reactions were so positive that I decided to take a chance on launching a sister business to Vitale Body and Soul. With Vitale, I was already providing people with vegan zero-waste items for their lifestyle, so it made sense to venture into food, which is such a big part of our lives. For me, veganism and zero-waste are both parts of a bigger philosophy - not living at the expense of others. The businesses complement each other, and my philosophy to help create a kinder, gentler world grounded in ethics was becoming a reality.

But I digress! The pandemic was in its early days, and I was, like many, not knowing if my income would be steady. While I didn't realize it initially, I quickly learned that brEAThe Kitchen is the only vegan quiche and pie shop in all of Canada, and our hungry customers couldn't get enough of our handmade pies and quiches.

We currently offer a full menu of 17 items (pies, quiches, gravy, and desserts) which includes a gluten-free selection, and each is full of wonderful flavours. All ingredients are hand-picked, and items are crafted by hand.
