Mother’s Day is a great reminder of everything all our mothers do for us and why we should acknowledge them. It’s also an opportunity to highlight motherhood and all the other amazing women and people in our lives who bring kindness, compassion, understanding and encouragement that make this world a better place.
Grandmothers are special in that they are not only mothers, but role models for grandchildren. With their experience comes wisdom, and we should cherish the stories they share with us that teach us about the times they lived in, their upbringings, and even important historical events.
Your grandmas may also have a special set of skills, such as cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, and other arts or crafts. Be sure to spend as much time as you can with your grandma to learn from her—they can also learn from you, too.
In the absence of parents, grandparents may sometimes step in to parent children—an even more admirable action.
In the absence of a mother, stepmothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and other family members may step in to help parent a child. While a child’s relationship with their mother is unique, the support of and care from other family members can help fill the absence a child may feel growing up without a mother. The most important message children can learn is that those around them love them.
We admire and acknowledge mothers and other parents who adopt children. Although the parent-child relationship is not a biological one, parenting is not any easier! Like other family members and friends, parents who adopt provide an equal amount of love and care for children.
Other older female role models, like mentors and “big sisters” also play an important role in children’s lives.
We also acknowledge single mothers who do their best to raise children despite the adversity they may face.
Have mother pets? Give them an extra treat on our behalf! Our animal mothers are important too.
We have several new desserts you can share with the mother (and anyone else who’s special) in your life: Apple-Cherry Pie, Strawberry & Rhubarb Pie, and Raspberry, Peach & Blueberry Pie. Order personal (5”) or full size (8”), baked or frozen.
Don’t forget, we have bundles that cater to families of all sizes! Try:
