2021 brEAThe Bites Blog Season Finale

Welcome to our 2021 year-end round-up of plant-based pies and quiches! What a year it has been – brEAThe Kitchen launched and if you haven’t been following our story through the brEAThe Bites Blog, let us ‘roll out the dough’ for you!

It Began with a Quiche

Founder of brEAThe Kitchen - Daphna Kedem

When we look back on it, it really started with a mushroom and onion quiche that was created and shared with Daphna’s friends and family. Their reactions were so positive that she decided to take a chance on launching a sister business to Vitale Body and Soul.

With Vitale, she was already providing people with vegan zero-waste items for their lifestyle, so it made sense to venture into food, which is such a big part of our lives. For her, veganism and zero-waste are both parts of a bigger philosophy - not living at the expense of others. The businesses complement each other, and her philosophy to help create a kinder, gentler world grounded in ethics was becoming a reality.

While it wasn’t realized initially, I quickly learned that brEAThe Kitchen is the only vegan quiche and pie shop in all of Canada, and our hungry customers couldn't get enough of our handmade pies and quiches. Learn more about the brEAThe Kitchen origin story here.

International Flavours for Everyone

When asked ‘what do you want for dinner?’ does your mind immediately go to your favourite comfort foods ordo you take the opportunity to explore what is new and tasty? When Daphna was developing the flavours for brEAThe Kitchen, she knew that we needed to not only have the traditional pies but also to represent the wonderful diversity of the city we live in.

On our menu, you will find flavours from India, Japan, and the US. Click here to explore more flavours!

8-Steps to Yumminess - Preparing Meals at Home

By August, word of brEAThe Kitchen and our delicious bake-at-home pies and quiche was spreading rapidly, so we really needed to explain to everyone, who may have been apprehensive about doing it themselves, that creating delicious, healthy and plant-based meals at home was very simple. Check out the easy-peasy steps here!

Introducing brEAThe Bundles

With troubled times almost behind us, getting back together with those we loved was a priority for many families and friends. Creating the brEAThe bundles was important to support community. We introduced six different bundles to satisfy everyone from the kids to those with hearty appetites. Check them out here!

Getting Cozy this Fall/Winter

On the west coast, when the weather changes it really changes! As soon as the summer sun dipped, the drizzly dark days returned, and thoughts turned to Halloween and cozy movie nights. We created two blogs to get everyone through this time. Being a company that cherishes our planet and all beings that make it amazing, we blogged about three movies that will educate and were suitable for all ages. For love an adult beverage with their movie nights, we created spooky pie pairings! Mix up something yummy here

From everyone at the brEAThe Kitchen team, we want to thank everyone who has tried our bake-at-home offerings, fresh-baked from our retail vendors, and stopped to say hello at our pop-up’s.  For those with friends and family who are thinking about eating healthier, being happier with their choices, and seeking convenience with meal planning, we created a list of five reasons quiche and pie which may be just what you need to nudge them to jump on the brEAThe Kitchen bandwagon
